Well, I would say that I got lucky to have a brown complexion as I do not need a tanning spray for my skin. Being a morena is part of the Filipina women unique features. Some foreign people define it as exotic skin. Morena means is having brown skin complexion.

It's funny though because some American women I know wanted to have a tan skin while Filipina women have been using whitening lotion to have a lighter skin. In fact others are willing to undergone some skin whitening treatment or do bleaching to have white skin. As for me, I am happy with my beautiful skin complexion and so is my husband.

I have been wondering, how come my brother knew how to play guitar when he did not have a formal guitar lessons when he was young? That was odd though. I guess he was just more talented that I do because I have no hope to learn about playing guitar or any other musical instrument for that matter.

Being a housewife is a really noble profession, if you ask me, and there’s no shame in saying you take care of a massive house and all the kids in it. I used to have a digital camera that uses 2 AA batteries. I take a lot of picture so I needed a fresh battery at all times. I got tired of buying batteries so I bought a rechargeable battery and I was able to save. Then I got tired of recharging all the time as AA batteries doesn't last long. It was then that I decided to buy myself a digital camera that uses Li Ion battery. I was happy that this kind of battery lasts long. I don't need to charge all the time and I can take as many pictures as I want before my battery gets exhausted.

My old digital camera is now being used by my sister. She complains the same thing about how the camera can easily exhaust the battery. I guess she is telling trying to imply that she wants a new one that doesn't use AA battery anymore.

Hmmm... let's see about this.

Coach Shopping

Yes, I was there last Black Friday. Coach store opened at 10pm. The line was long. The weather was cold but for me it was fun.

Everywhere the line is long. Even going to the bathroom you have to line up and wait. It was kinda crazy but I didn't mind it. On the contrary I enjoyed the frenzy.

I was able to buy purses for my friends. I hope they will like it as much as I do.

Holidays is around the corner. I always feel nostalgic around holiday season. You see, I came from Philippines where Christmas is very festive. You can always see how the surrounding changes when holidays season is approaching. You can almost always feel the holiday cheer as early as "ber" months starts. Around the holidays, people in our town always organize some activities. There are bingo games for a cause, there are tournaments, dancing activities and other entertaining events. You can't blame me to miss all those fun things because I had such great memories and fun times with friends and families. I collect magazines, all sorts of them, from kitchen, to gardening, home improvement, entertainment, food and a whole lot of fashion magazines. Vogue, Glamour, Seventeen, and others are all piled up in a special spot in my kitchen and living room where I can easily grab and read. These magazines are just very helpful to me. Sometimes, I read Glamour shots reviews, follow and cook recipes and dress up like those I see in the fashion spreads. My magazine collection does not only consist of the newest editions but also of back issues. From these magazines, I learn a lot, from the most mundane to the complicated ones, specifically like putting on make up, dressing up like the stars, cooking a family dish, even decorating the house.

Magazines are a good source of information and reference. They provide data that can be used anytime. No more power on and passwords to type, just grab it and viola, instant knowledge in your hand. For people like me who live outside of our home country, it would be a challenge to buy gifts for loved ones and friends when we plan a trip back home. Of course there will always be chocolates that both the kids and adults would enjoy, but surely there must be something special for mom, and some very close friends who expect more than just those sweet treats.

The most common souvenirs would be shirts or caps for women, and some fancy jewelries like shamballa bracelets. Bringing home souvenirs is part of our culture. Not that it is required, but maybe it’s more of being expected by our closest friends and relatives. It does not have to be that expensive, too. It could be a small keychain, bookmark or a fridge magnet.

I always get amazed at how companies have changed their choice of uniforms these days. Of course there will always be the traditional coat and tie, but some would be so groovy and modern to choose embroidered shirts for some days of the week.

In a way, I personally like it. I mean at least for some days it would be good to just be casual-looking, right? Especially for workers who have to do field work and be out of the office for longer periods of time during the day, it is most convenient and practical.

Hubby does not have one of those shirts for work, but it would be a good idea for him to have one—that is if his company would allow it! The main reason for the designer of these shirts is to give the employees a more relaxed feeling while at work. And I could not agree more! My little girl has a long hair. Sometimes, it tangles so much that it will take me over 30 minutes to brush it.

Dreaming of Having our Own Pool

We always wanted to have our own swimming pool for our ancestral home. In the past few years, we have renovated our childhood home. There is no trace of the old house that we grew. Though it is still located in the same place, the new house is almost 5 times bigger than what we used to live in. Gone is the shaggy little hut that we called home for so many years. Now, the house that we built already stands out among the rest in the neighborhood.

The house construction is not yet done. There are still many things we need to construct and that includes a good size swimming pool. The land area won't be a problem because mom and dad has a big land where our house is erected. We just need to make sure that we will put a pool safety fence to make the swimming pool safe.

Ok, it’s time to shop for the winter. I am not sure if I am ready to brace the cold, but I guess I could do nothing about it. One thing’s for sure, though, my little one is excited to go out and play in the snow again. We were at the mall the other day to spend our Columbus day at the mall. Kids were not in school so we brought our kids to the mall to let them enjoy the playground there. After they play and ate, time for the moms to shop.

We went to our favorite stores. We checked Guess, Gap, Banana Republic, Aeropostale, Vanity Fair and more. Then it was time for the kids to check the toy stores. We first went to the Learning Express then Toys R Us. We saw different retractable banner stands in different stores. Most of them has SALE banner on them. It was a great shopping trip as we were able to snag some great deals.

Girls love shoes, purses, accessories and anything that will enhance their looks. I think that a typical girl owns more than 10 pairs of shoes. Depending on where I go and what occasion, I wear shoes that fits the occasion.

As I was spring cleaning my closet, I found out that I have enough boots for the winter. I shouldn't buy a new one this coming winter because I still have boots that I haven't worn. I bought few pairs of boots last summer because they were on sale. I just paid a fraction of what it was priced originally. Shopping for winter clothes and shoes during summer while they are on sale is my secret of buying quality apparel for less. I always buy out of season apparel and reserved it for later use.

Executive Suit

I am a stay at home mother. I have been a stay at home wife and mother for 4 years now. Wearing an executive suit is not an everyday occurrence for me. In fact, the last time that I wore an executive suit was when I was interviewed by Department of Homeland Security when I applied for my Citizenship.

I may not need another suit in few months but sooner or later, I will be embarking in a new journey. I will be looking for job when my daughter will be going to school. I will be needing new women's suits for job interviews.

Biggest Loser Philippine Edition Finally Ended

I saw the auditions and I must say my jaws kind of dropped when I saw the applicants. I could not believe that there are that huge people in our country. I thought they only exist in foreign countries and I thought Filipinos are healthier because of our love for home-cooked meals. I guess many things have really changed.

I did not watch this television show religiously. I watched the first few episodes then missed some and before I knew it, the contestants were already slimming. I was so curious how many pounds the Megastar, Sharon Cuneta, has lost. I am sure she was so inspired of the contestants. The contestants still wear plus size clothes but you can see that they have lost pounds after pounds. Who would not lose pounds with that kind of training in the camp?

I have not read on the news who won as I missed the finale. Will there be another season? Maybe or maybe not. But if there will be, I am sure the auditions will be flocked again by people who want to live a healthier life.

Reverse Osmosis

Reverse osmosis is an effective way to purify drinking water for your home. I need to invest in an Aquatell reverse osmosis because I am one of the few who can't stand to drink the water from our faucet. We do have a safe drinking water supply but I just can't stand the taste of flouride in the water. Dentist advise us to drink water from the tap but I just can't though I tried. My solution to this problem that way I don't have to buy bottled water all the time is to buy a reverse osmosis system for household use.

I am no makeup person. I have just the basic but I do not use them that often. Let us just say that I keep them for emergency purposes like formal dates with my husband, or any formal event and I need to add more color onto my face. So when nothing like that is in our calendar, they are just in my dresser, waiting to be used.

Over-time, I noticed that Natural Cosmetics have gained much attention in the beauty products scene. Makeup companies have come up with one product to another that boasts how natural it is made. Like there each product is free of ingredients such as parabens, artificial fragrance, sls and phthalates, which could be harmful to our skin.

Personally, I think this is a good move. I really do not want too much chemical on my face. That is why I do not put one makeup on a regular basis. Who does, right? And the faster companies produce products like these, the competition tightens and the prices tend to drop. And when that happens, it is time to take advantage.

On hindsight, maybe I should rethink about putting makeup more often, even just the lipstick. I have a daughter who will probably inherit whatever style I have so I should be a good example.

New Boots

So I said before that I am secretly wishing for a new pair of boots. Every now and then, when I get tired of what I am doing online, I divert my attention and energy to something else. I window shop online. And guess what I found out today as I explore the Internet? I found corral boots on sale!!! I was like, why now? I do not have the money yet for this. I am still saving up for something else.

So I browsed the site intently. I went over each design even if my heart sinks because I cannot buy a pair yet. One design really captured me and until now, I cannot get over it yet. It is a gorgeous pair of soft, vintage brown leather cowgirl boots. The upper is intricately decorated with hot pink and vibrant teal floral designs with cute pink heart resting in the center of the design over both the front and back of the shaft. This is the perfect match for the sundress I bought from GAP recently! Only that I am not buying it now. It can wait. Who knows, if I get extra online work, I would be able to buy it in no time!

Noise in the A/C closet

I just cannot figure out what is wrong with my air conditioning unit. It works just fine, but sometimes at night there is a loud crashing sound in the closet where it is located. When it first started happening, I thought it was someone in the house and tried to convince my husband that we needed to call all home Security. After the noise became regular, I did a more thorough check on the unit. I honestly cannot find anything wrong. I changed the air filter and cleaned out the return. I checked in the closet to make sure that there was nothing else that could be falling. The noise isn’t a metallic clicking, but sounds like a coat falling of a peg onto the floor. I called an A/C service and they had no idea. They said if the unit was working correctly, I just shouldn’t worry about it. Honestly, it is driving me crazy! It wakes me up in the middle of the night and sometimes startles me. Any idea about what this may be? Please let me know

Tungsten Jewelry

A friend of mine wanted to upgrade their wedding bands. What they have now is beautiful but it lacks some weight. Recently, she saw tungsten rings being sold at the malls. She does not have any idea what this metal is and so do I. I asked Google and here is what I found out.

Tungsten is a hefty, strong and durable metal. After it is polished, the luster on this metal is brilliant and is extremely scratch-resistant. Tungsten is a very hard, dense metal, with a weight that many would compare to 18 karat gold. No wonder stores that sell tungsten jewelry online are becoming popular nowadays.

I also read about tungsten carbide. This is formed when the metal is combined with carbon and other elements. This transforms the metal into the hardest metallic substance known to man. This equates to hardness approximately 10 times harder than 18k gold, and 4 times harder than titanium. Talk about durability here.

My friend said that the plain tungsten wedding bands she saw were already pretty on their own but she raved even more at the ones crafted with precious stones. Maybe I should also show these to my husband even if we do not have any plans of upgrading our wedding rings.

It is an open secret that I love to shop. I find it very therapeutic when I am shopping. I especially love it when there are clearance sales or price offs at the malls and at my favorite brands. Right now, I am looking for overalls that I can bring with me to my home country. I am going to give one for my brother who works in the fields, it would be perfect for him during harvest time. I am also planning to buy coveralls for my father and another brother, as they are scheduled to do some repainting in our ancestral house just in time for my parent’s golden wedding anniversary celebration come February.

I was busy searching the Internet when I remembered G and L Clothing Store. A friend of mine referred me to this website a few months back, this is where she was able to purchase overalls and coveralls. They even have those for big and tall clothing. I am just reminded that I can purchase from them too and what’s good about them is that they deliver for free for purchases over $100. As I read through their website, I’ve learned that customers can track their orders easily and returns are very easy too. They have brands like Carhartt, Levis, Dickies, Timberland, and lacrosse. I think I will have to start shopping now.

I saw a picture of cupcake tower instead of the common cake during the baptism of one of my friend's son. I was speechless at how good it looks like. I asked her how much it cost. I was stunned at how much is the rent of the cupcake tower holder alone.

I wanted to have a cupcake tower for my parent's golden anniversary. I decided to buy the cupcake tower holder as I am sure they can use it on birthdays and other special occasions. This is a collapsible so this will be easy to store.

Sweet Home Alabama

Have you seen the movie Sweet Home Alabama? It stars Reese Witherspoon, Patrick Dempsey and Josh Lucas. When I saw this movie, I thought I would be seeing lots of University of Alabama shirts but I did not.

The movie is about a rising fashion designer in New York, who almost has everything she wished for since she was young. She has a great career and fiancée. When his fiancée proposed to her, she remembered her family back in Alabama as well as her husband. She has a husband who refuses to sign their divorce papers since she sent them to him. Since her fiancé already proposed, she decided to go back in Alabama to have her husband sign the papers. And you should now watch the movie to know what happened next. Haha!

Seriously speaking, I enjoyed this movie. I love the lines, the costumes of the characters and most especially how the story progressed. I had a good taste of Alabama apparel without leaving the comforts of my sofa! It was a lovely way of spending my me-time, as my husband and daughter had their own bonding. I was right to keep a stock of microwaveable pop corns in the cupboard!
